RetailPulse had outgrown their off-the-shelf e-commerce solution. Inventory sync was running 4 hours behind their warehouse system, the admin interface was slowing down their marketing team, and the checkout conversion rate was below industry average due to a clunky UX.
The Challenge
With 15,000+ SKUs and daily stock changes, real-time inventory accuracy was non-negotiable. At the same time, the marketing team needed to update landing pages and promotions without developer involvement.
Our Approach
We built a decoupled architecture: a React storefront consuming a PHP API, with PostgreSQL as the primary data store and Redis for session management and inventory caching. A headless CMS sits alongside for content management, giving the marketing team full autonomy over editorial content while the engineering team controls the product catalogue.
Results
- Inventory sync latency reduced from 4 hours to under 30 seconds
- Checkout conversion rate increased by 18% in the first quarter
- Marketing team can now publish campaigns without any developer support
- Page load time (LCP) improved from 4.2s to 1.1s
